A Dog's purpose is so far is one of my favorite books I have read recently. This book adds an interesting twist on the possible life of a dog. The idea of reincarnation gives many dog owners hope that one day they will meet their former best friend in another form, the book also showcases the bond between a dog and his owner is one of the strongest on Earth. I liked the fact the dog carries some of his memories between lives and that he reminisces when he dies about his owner. For example when he talks about how making Senora happy seemed like the most important thing to do, this gives all dog owners a happy feeling.

This years March Madness NCAA tournament has not seen many upsets, but the few it has seen have been glorious one's, in which the highly favored school was soundly defeated by a lower ranked team. No a 16 didn't beat a one seed, and not all four one seeds will make it to the final four (*cough *cough Villanova) but the tournament has still be good one. Let's go over some of the amazing wins and terrible loses shall we.
In the East section of the Bracket the top two teams Villanova and Duke were both defeated by a lower ranked team. Villanova was defeated by the Big Ten's own Wisconsin Badgers. The Badgers barely won the game against Nova 65-62. South Carolina was also an underdog team that was victorious against the Duke Blue Devils. The South Carolina Game-Cocks won by 88-81, crushing the Duke Blue Devils always winning spirit. In conclusion the March Madness NCAA tournament has not had many crazy games this year but it has had some good ones. The tournament is always exciting and these years are needed to throw people who always pick upsets off. Prediction for the winner of the tournament is.... UCLA Bruins defeating the Gonzaga team. The book "Night" is a memoir about a real life holocaust concentration camp survivor's story of his time during world war two. In which he was taken by the Nazi's to a concentration camp. His family was torn apart and almost everyone he knew died in our outside of the camp he was in. In "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" the movie and book are both historical fiction. With the main character Bruno, the son of a Nazi officer who's family is moved to a home near a concentration camp. The book and Movie are different because Bruno is a German officer's son and did not suffer, while Elie was a Hungarian Jew who was taken by the Nazi's.
"The Boy in the striped Pajamas" Bruno Age: about 8 Country of Origin =: Germany Bruno is a small, skinny child. Who's father is a nazi officer during world war two. He must move because of his father's job and is at first sad, because he will miss all of his friends from home. But then becomes happy because he meets a boy about his age who lives on the "farm" nearby and wears pajamas all the time. He then changes his mind about wanting to leave and go home to Berlin, Germany. In conclusion, Bruno doesn't enjoy his new home at first. But then starts to like it when he makes a new friend. Words of the Wiser
Page #78 Elie is laying in the camp's hospital relaxing because he has no work when his neighbor whom he can't see, tell's him that there will be a second selection and all of the sick will be gassed and burned. Because Germany has no use for Sick Jews. The character is affected by this because he then hurries up and tries to get better faster and under goes surgery on his foot, without anesthesia. Memory Moment Page #100 Elie Wiesel remembers a time later in his life when he was on a ship near a poor village and passengers were throwing coins to the people overboard who fought for the money. He tells a lady to please not throw her coins and she responded with "Why not? I love to give to Charity." This memory is important because it relates back to the story when he is in the train car and villagers throw crumbs of bread into the cars and men fight over barely any food. Contrast and Contradictions Page #110-111 Elie is thinking of leaving his dad and relieving himself of the burden that his father has become after the man tells him that he should stop giving his ration of bread to his father and to leave him behind altogether. But then quickly shames himself and goes and gets his father some soup. The character felt this way because for one he was desperate, hungry, tired, and cold, and his father was sick so he had to take care of him.So his father had become a huge to burden to Eliezer. And also because life in concentration camps was extremely difficult and especially when you had to take care of someone else also. If I was the President of the United States of America my first priority would be to tear down Trump's wall. This is important to me because the wall is unnecessary and stops certain trusts between the US and Mexico. There also is no reason to build a wall because studies have shown that Illegal Immigrants from Mexico have left the US more than come into the US since 2007-08 financial crisis. Studies also show that the Illegal immigrants have been more law abiding than US citizens.
My second most important priority would be to fix the educational system by increasing government funding. The money would go towards updated technology and new learning programs. The public school system would have an entirely new approach to learning. In the elementary schools the gifted children would be given better advanced placement courses to take outside of the regular classroom. My third most important priority would be to decrease the unemployment rate. I would do this by creating a law that required companies that have profits over 1 Billion each quarter. They must hire 100 more employees. The law would help companies grow and would give jobs to unemployed citizens. If the company runs out of jobs then they can apply for a permit that will have a government inspector to see if the company is lying or they actually don't have enough jobs. During winter break I spent a lot of time with my family and friends. I did not venture our of state or go on vacation, but I did see people that I rarely see throughout the year, and that was pretty nice. On Christmas Eve I went to my grandparents house to eat lunch, see family, go to church, and open presents. We did a secret santa with our stockings where everyone drew someone else's name and got them gifts with a single theme. The gift receiver then had to guess who was their santa and what was the theme. I got my aunt and the theme was worms.
On christmas day my family spent the day at my house opening presents and relaxing. Until it was time for dinner, and then we went to my other grandparents house for a lobster dinner with steak sandwhiches which was delicious! Later in the week for New Years Eve my family went over to our friends house to celebrate. We spent the night playing music, singing kareoke, and playing video games. In the end I would say that it was a pretty successful break. If I had a millions dollars the first thing I would buy would be a fully paid vacation for my family to the Bahamas. I would do this because my mom and dad went there on their honeymoon and they have always said it was fun. I also would do this because they have taken to do tons of things and I want to pay them back.
The second thing I would buy would be repairs for our house and then a screened in 3 season porch for my family. One reason I would do this would be because my parents have to worry about the house all the time and fixing the house would be a relief to them. Then building the porch is a little luxury to add on. And finally I would save up my money for college and for my sisters college and then be able to move to Chicago after college. I have always wanted to move to Chicago and become a civil engineer and I know that my sister wants to become an Interior designer when she grows up. Paying for my sisters and my college would make expenses easy on my parents and I want to give back to them. |
